Scholarships & Grants

To All AFAN Members,

Your AFAN Steering Committee is happy to announce to our members that AFAN will be awarding $6000 in scholarships and grants to the membership for the year of 2013. The purpose of these scholarships is to provide memberswith the resources to further their astrological knowledge and enhance their professional skills.

The following are the scholarships and grants available this year as a benefit of your membership status within AFAN:

(3) $300 Conference-of-Your-Choice Scholarships (such as AFA, NORWAC, NCGR, SOTA, or similar conferences)
(2) $700 Full Conference Scholarships, for registration, hotel, and meal expenses at a conference of your choice

$2500 in Study Stipends. Applications will be accepted for one course or term of study online or in person, up to a maximum of $500. Eligible classes for this category are those available through a school/association/etc which offers multiple teachers or styles rather than private tutoring.

$1200 in Special Project Grants to assist individuals or groups who have a particular project they would like topursue and could use some funds to assist them. Proposals will be considered that are representative of AFAN’s missions of networking, promoting astrology, and service to the overall astrological community. Proposals for this category should include a description of the specific project and the amount requested.

How to Apply:

All current AFAN members in good standing are eligible to apply for the scholarships and grants. Applications should be sent by email to scholarships@afan.org and should include:
• the specific scholarship(s) one is applying for
• a short explanation of one’s background in astrology so far
• how the scholarship/grant would help them further their aims in astrology
• a statement of financial need

For study stipend and special project grants only, please also include the the cost for the specific study term or project proposal.

Your application must be received by March 15, 2013.

Scholarship recipients will afterwards write a brief article about their experiences to be published in the AFAN newsletter. Conference scholarship recipients will also assist at the AFAN membership table during the conference attended.

All applicants will be notified of results by April 10, 2013.
